I think Westfield are responding to what has been a considerable change in their intake over the past 10 years. (And probably most rapidly in the past 4 - 5).
I was very interested to note in their Maths department that their top band (two sets) are using the same text book (Essential Maths) as Parmiters and Rickmansworth, which the Maths teacher I spoke to said they had brought in last year. Also, a child I know who got what I would call a solid rather than a high 5 in Maths KS2 SATs is in the second set of the top band.
