Hi Nicola,

It is actually frowned upon for anyone to advertise in the forum.

Your best bet is to look at the Tutors section off the home page and search the list of registered tutors.

This website does not financially benefit from any of these tutors other than charge them a one off administration fee of £15 for creating a dedicated webpage for each tutor.

For your information the examinations set by this consortium of schools is in verbal reasoning (set by university of Edinburgh) and mathematics (st by NFER).

Best of luck.

Nicola

Why don't you register on the forum, read through previous posts and find out who has/is applying for these schools and try sending them a pm. It would be unfair to post a tutors name directly on the website as it could result in loads of calls to one particular tutor. Better still have you tried asking other parents in the school playground. However, I know good tutors are like gold dust and many have long waiting lists. Good luck

Dame Alice Owens also have an English exam and you can buy past papers direct from the school.

Past papers...

I didn't realise the VR papers were set by Univeristy of Edinburgh. I thought both maths and VR were NFER.

If you look at the other posts on this forum you'll see that there was an issue where Dame Alice Owens allegedly set exactly the same VR paper as used by the SW Herts consortium. As another poster said you can buy old papers from DAO while you can't do this throught the Herts consortium. So therefore it would make sense to get the past VR papers from DAO if possible and practice them. (Beware that of course they can change the formats and suppliers without telling you.)

As for finding a tutor - why not ask your school's head teacher or your class teacher for any recommendations.

I just went to the DAO web site and looked at the price list for practice papers. They sell Athey VR papers but do not say they are actually 'past papers'. They do however describe the English ones as 'past papers'.

I guess they are just selling the standard Athey practice papers and that does not mean that these will be the ones used on the day.

Oh well...
