Hi
Bond books are good to start with and get into a daily routine. You should really try the age group 10-11 as 11-12 might be challenging for a beginner.
4-6 months before the big day, try the GL Asss, NFER or Susan Daught books, they are closer to the real exam. Start timing him.
You can also check on youtube all the 11plus Verbal Reasoning techniques or buy the IPS books.
He also need to improve on vocabulary as the English texts are old classics.

Another good thing is to book him for a mock test few months before the exam. (Paragraph removed)

As you still have a whole year, make sure you pace him so he does not get frustrated. I had to let go a bit over the summer as he was getting a bit stressed. Try different things until you find what is right for your child but make sure you go over the mistakes with him each time especially towards the end as you will probably find out they still do silly mistakes which can be very costly. A difference of few points can make a big difference in your place order.
Good Luck :)
