you must keep first choice as otherwise you may end up with no school at all. If you get a place at HBS through the W/L then you can give up your first choice place.

comes down to whether you can get a place at HBS - not many come off the waiting list..

Have you contacted them to find out where your daughter came in the list of candidates after R2? If she would have gained a place, or is within the next 15 or so then it's worth considering. If she was lower than that then it's highly unlikely that she will get in.
