Emanuel School - Offer, advice needed!

In preparation for the 11+ (September), we decided to try and help DS with exam preparation and confidence with taking an early entrance test. This was for 10+ entry and we have now achieved a place at the Emanuel School in South London.
After visiting and the school and we found it to be most excellent, better than we expected. However very expensive (15k per annum). The start date is this early September 2012.
My question is should we accept this place and then start the school in September, omitting our attempt at the Herts schools, so just carry on as planned. The worry is of course, not achieving a place at 11+ and then walking away from our place at Emanuel.
