Good luck from me too. All packed and ready here but I'm too excited to sleep! Hope everybody's first days/weeks go smoothly.

Another pat on the back to all newbies in Y7 from me too. I didn't sleep too well either, worrying about everything. I think I am more nervous than DD!
She is all ready for her first day at HBS today......can't quite get my head around the fact that a whole year has elapsed since she was immersed in exams and feeling the pressure.
Have a great first week everyone

Hope to be kept posted on how they are getting on! All the best

Half a day only today for DD in her over-sized uniform , though not as big as I thought it was going to be.
Re: good luck to all year 7's starting this week
I am nervous on behalf of my dd2 starting gs today. Feels like a huge step. Her blazer was hanging off her, miles too big. But the skirt - it's too short - she's grown. That will teach me to be organised and by uniform in August (only four weeks ago). She looked great, but was definitely nervous. Her brother ds2 has gone into year 3, new school, junior school. He'll be fine.
Ds1 has gone into year 11, dd1 into year 10. Feels like nothing by comparison but I think after 6 weeks off, they were all a bit nervous about going back.
Roll on 4pm when they should all be home. Feels strange and quiet.

I know what you mean about the skirt. I'm sure it wasn't that short when I bought it a few weeks ago. In fact, it didn't look too bad this morning. It just looks a tad short in the photo I took. But at £22.50 a skirt, it will have to do.

I went into my dd2's gs yesterday to hand over diabetes equipment, the pastoral care lady admitted it didn't matter if they didn't have a school regulation skirt (it has no logo!) as long as it was "similar". All future ones will be Marks & Spencers "similar" ones. Wish I'd known.
Apparently, all year 7's are currently doing orienteering tasks round the school! Sounds good for socialising and learning their way around.

No such luck here . Apparently, these skirts can't be rolled up. Just as well ...
Re: good luck to all year 7's starting this week
I'm afraid they can be rolled up and regularly are On the bright side, your DD will probably make one skirt last 5 years - my DD clung to hers & only wore its replacement under extreme duress!KS10 wrote:No such luck here . Apparently, these skirts can't be rolled up. Just as well ...
I hope she (& all the other new starters!) had a fab day!
