Messing with my head!

Post by Windyday »

I've never been on a forum that just chunks up threads and deletes them/ reinstates them like that.
It's really disconcerting

To be fair they can do so as it is in their guidelines.
I think a gentle reminder on the thread by the moderators is better.

Part of the attraction of the forum is the free flowing discussion- excessive moderation is not a good thing, long term.

Yes, you are totally right.
It's odd to have no input from the mods
It feels quite unpleasant

Please do appreciate that all the moderators are volunteers and do have real jobs and families to deal with too. At this time of year, when the results are coming out and applications going in, then the moderators are stretched to keep an eye on everything which is happening on the forum, as well as answering large numbers of queries which individual people will send us regarding their personal cases/circumstances. Hence the time available for moderating in fine detail is more limited than it is at other times.

There were several inflammatory comments on this thread - hence it was removed to give the situation time to calm down, and the moderators a chance to deal with it. It was returned, minus the postings in the last 24 hours, following a posting requesting this. When time permits the remaining postings may be moderated and returned to the thread minus the inappropriate content.

I've checked back, and no other thread that you posted on has been removed.

The only possibility is that a thread may have been moved because it was in the wrong section.

If you do a search of your own posts, you may well find the post that way.

The thread about Latymer results was temporarily removed for some light spring-cleaning after it all got a bit heated and unpleasant.

Can totally understand why the moderator removed the posts as they were all getting a bit handbags at dawn but for me they did serve to polarise the stark difference in attitude of the prospective parents of QE vs DAO/Latymer pupils. Might serve as useful information, albeit moderated, for DPs yet to make a decision.
