Hi,

Could anyone let me know if instrumental performances will be preferred when compared to vocal performances in the music test conducted by Parmiters, WGSB, Rickmansworth schools?

Thank you.

I have spoken to heads of music of these schools and responses vary from the "party line" it doesn't matter what instrument, do whatever they are best at and most confident with (which does make sense really) to "play the cello" in my daughter's case, as they "try to balance instruments so it is not all piano players" from one school. However my daughter is Grade 3 piano and only Grade 1 cello, so we think we will still play cello. (Assuming she gets through nasty musical aptitude test! We know of someone who was Grade 6 piano and didnt get through the m.a.t. last year!)

Sorry I meant she will still play piano, being her first instrument.

Gut instinct is go for instrument if it is as good a vocal. I think they must like the idea of orchestral instruments, but this is just guesswork really.
