Marking system in the SW Herts Consortium Exam

Post by Jal »

Hello Mums

I have a query and perhaps it is a stupid one at that :( , but nevertheless would like to ask , so please bear with my ignorance !

1.The SW Herts Consortium exam is marked out of 280/ 282 (as the case may be) . The number of questions in VR (English, CEM ) is 140 / 50 mins and 50 questions in Maths / 45 mins, which makes a total of 190.

How then is it worked out to 280 ? I just don’t get how the marking is done – is it 1.47 marks per question? #intrigued

Grateful for your response.

Thank you . J

Once the raw score is known for each test, this is converted into a standardised score, using a table. Basically, a February-born child scoring better than 50% of children in each test would get a score of 200.

There are some helpful tables in the admission statistics sticky at the top of the thread. From these you can see, for example, that the boys offered places at WBGS this March from the rest of the admissions area (outer area) scored approximately in the top 3%.

Where did you get the figure of 140 CEM VR questions from? We are not told how many questions there will be. All we do know is that DAO and SW Herts are using the same paper. DG
