Ricky or Queens?

Post by poppy2000 »

Hi All,
We have been to see both (Queens and Rickmansworth) schools and liked them both, hence a little confused.
Apart from Queens being sports specialist school is there any other major difference between the two schools?
In terms of distance, they would both be equal from where we are.
We have heard that after the change of head teacher at Rickmansworth school a lot of teachers left. Has it had any major impact on the school for better or worst?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance

Hi,

I know people at both schools and are equally happy.

Queens is a larger school and is spread over 2 sites accessible by underground passage. It's speciality is sports, but I know many non sporty people that love it there too. Queens also topped Rickmansworth in GCSE results this year, but not a big difference.

Rickmansworth has great a reputation and has a great drama and dance dept (I believe, someone may correct me!) it's smaller than queens, although from this year they will be taking an extra form, but still less than Queens.

It really is a tough one, as both are great schools, sorry I can't be much help. Did you get a nicer feel in either one? Has your DC got friends going to one that may influence your decision?

Thank you so much for your reply. It def is a tough one. They are both seemed quite similar apart from the size.
I think we may just have to go with our instincts and go for the one my DC feels more comfortable with.
Thank you
