What about the outer catchment places?
Maybe he was awarded an outer catchment place.
Not all students are local.

Watford Grammar don't have an out of catchment policy. They are always heavily oversubscribed and don't have enough spaces for their own residents. They also don't offer music or any other scholarships to out of catchment students. The only way this family has gained a place under a music scholarship, was to use a false address in Harrow, Watford or the Traditional area. All students in Watford Grammar Boys School are local or the school wont accept the application.

All parents who are on the waiting list at Watford Boys for admission into Year 7 2018, please be aware that a mum living in Uxbridge, 15 miles away, has successfully gained entry for her son (music scholarship) into Watford Grammar School. 449 students living in Watford and the admission area are still waiting for a place.

Can an MBE be withdrawn with deceit like this? Watford Grammar School for boys ought to act in a fair and honourable manner, and give places according to their own admissions criteria / policy.

Does anyone know how this can be stopped ? Are there any parents who have been declined a place in the admission area -This is your chance to step forward and ask for your rightful place at the school - this is all wrong?

This is a discussion board and we have no powers of intervention here. if you are so concerned, contact the school yourself.

I have, just making all other Watford residents on the waitinglist aware of this fraud. Its not fair that people like this make a mockery of the education system in England and spoil it for all the honest parents out there.

Other people cannot report anything without evidence. Watford boys have music places not scholarship places. It is a state semi selective school. They do have both an inner and outer catchment area. I do not think you should be whipping up a frenzy about a school's admission procedure you do not understand. If you have evidence that child outside the inner and outer catchment areas has been awarded a place after fraudulently submitting information you and you alone should contact the school and the LA with that evidence.

They however do NOT offer out of catchment placements at all because they are heavily over subscribed. If you don't understand or have read their admission criteria I suggest you refrain from commenting on this forum especially on things you don't know about.

These are specialist School places not scholarships as such.

State schools do not offer scholarships as they are not fee paying schools.

I am pleased to see you have now reported the possible case of admissions fraud.

One report will be enough for the LA to start investigating.

I have read and fully understand Watford Boy's admissions policy. Watford boys is a semi selective school which offers 10% of places based on a music aptitude exam, followed by an audition for successful applicants. They offer 25% of places based on an academic exam. 65% of these academic and music places are allocated to the inner catchment and 35% to the outer catchment. Watford boys is not a private school so they do not have scholarship places. A scholarship place is where a private school offers a reduction in fees where a child has proved themselves to be exceptionally academically able. I hope I have helped you to understand the system. 676 applicants applied to Watford, 459 from Watford area, 214 from the traditional area and 3 from the other areas. They only take 224 places, with that 13 in Watford received a music place and 9 in the rest of the admission area got the music place, a total of 22 received a music place in the school. 34 received a place under the academic test who live in Watford and 22 received a academic place who live in the rest of the admission area.
This is regarded as a music and academic scholarship even if its free. All places are for Watford area and the surrounding area, they do not offer any places to anyone not living in what they call their catchment.
