MBE Mum lies to gain Music Scholarship in Watford Grammar

All parents who are on the waiting list at Watford Boys for admission into Year 7 2018, please be aware that a mum living in Uxbridge, 15 miles away, has successfully gained entry for her son (music scholarship) into Watford Grammar School. 449 students living in Watford and the admission area are still waiting for a place.

Can an MBE be withdrawn with deceit like this? Watford Grammar School for boys ought to act in a fair and honourable manner, and give places according to their own admissions criteria / policy.

Does anyone know how this can be stopped ? Are there any parents who have been declined a place in the admission area -This is your chance to step forward and ask for your rightful place at the school - this is all wrong?

What is your stake in this matter Ushi75? why are you posting?

This is a discussion board and we have no powers of intervention here. if you are so concerned, contact the school yourself.

If you are aware of admissions fraud of any kind, then please do report it to the relevant school/LA so they can investigate it and take appropriate action. Sooner rather than later so DCs who have been denied a place because of the fraud get their rightful place.

Also schools and LAs are often less likely to remove a child’s school place once they have started the school, even of gained fraudulently. I’d like to think this is changing.

I am concerned and urging "losers" in the fraud to take their rightful "place" - this cant be right

I'm calling on them to come forward and query why they may have been declined whilst in catchment, when someone outside catchment has been granted a place

Also...

And a parent who has been awarded an MBE, how can they do something like this on behalf of their child committing Fraud - I thought these people are to be admired and respected - having been given the nomination

Awards like this are given for all sorts of reasons - many of the recipients are not necessarily paragons of virtue.

What evidence do you have of fraud ? Do you know the full background?

What about the outer catchment places?
Maybe he was awarded an outer catchment place.
Not all students are local.

If you have evidence of fraud you need to present it to the school and LA. It is pointless other parents jumping up and down as, in order to act on fraud, the school/LA have to have the proof, which the other parents won't have.

A dim view is taken of admissions fraud, however, but as Tinkers has pointed out, you have to act now, as once a child has started in a school, even fraudulently, it is much harder to remove them.

So you want other people to report the fraud for you, that you are alleging has been committed? Presumably you have proof of this, or at least a reasonable suspicion, so get on and report it yourself! It only needs one person to pass their concern on to the Admissions authority for an investigation to be instigated, a bit like pressing the button at pedestrian controlled lights - once will do, any more is superfluous.
