My son only completed test to question 76, shall I give up hope now? He was confident when he came out, but it's so competitive... and he is a September baby!!!

If he got all the ones that he completed correct then he has a good chance.
Many many DCs (edited by moderator)will have rushed through, over confident and made many mistakes.
It will be the same at SW Herts tomorrow and was the same at HBS and Latymer.
The careful, methodical DCs editedby moderator who checked and rechecked their work will be the ones most likely to secure a strong score.

He said that's why he took longer and didn't finish because he was being extra careful so fingers crossed!

Well done to him.
It sounds like he took exactly the right approach with the exception of his response to the five minute warning.
He should have marked C for all the remaining questions and then returned to the question he was on and resumed his methodical approach.
Then at least he would have had a chance of getting a score for the remaining questions. DG
