Watford Grammar - Should I bother?!
Hi all,
Have taken a look at their admissions policy and regarding the postcodes, I live in a HA3 5 postcode which is outside the catchment area (HA3 6 is in the catchment area!).
Does anyone know if its even worth applying if you are not in the inner or outer catchment areas and if the school are ever likely to change the accepted postcodes?
Thanks.

Re: Watford Grammar - Should I bother?!
I understand that Watford Grammar schools are very stringent with the admission area. If you are outside the admission area I would think it is pointless. However, Parmiters have 3 spaces with no catchment area and these places are allocated based on the result.
My suggestion is to read the admission policies very carefully.
Hope this helps.

State schools have to publish their admissions policy on their websites and once published it stays in force for the next year.
They are able to propose changes once a year which any member of the public can comment on.
So it does not matter if you are one house or a thousand houses away from the catchment area, if you are not in catchment you cannot be allocated a catchment place.
The catchments have been in place for some years and so are unlikely to change.
There are three non catchment academic places for Parmiters which will require the highest of the scores among those who apply.
There is also one music place.
There are also non catchment music and academic places at St Clement Danes. DG

Re: Watford Grammar - Should I bother?!
.The school will reserve 21 places (10% of total admissions) for girls selected on the basis of aptitude for music and a further 52
places (25% of total admissions) for girls selected by academic ability. For the purpose of applying the specialist criteria, the
admission area will be divided into two separate areas (the Watford area and the ‘rest of the admission area’) and girls will be
placed in one of them according to the location of their normal home address. Applications for these places from candidates who
live outside the admission area will only be considered in the event that all of the specialist places are not filled by girls from
within the admission area
Of the 52 Academic places 31 are for the Watford area and 21 for the rest of the admissions area

St Clement Danes has no catchment for its 10% academic and 10% music places. Parmiters has I think 3 music and 3 academic non-catchment places and Rickmansworth have a couple I think. OP check the admissions details in case it has anything has changed recently.St Clement Danes?

I was referring to the Parmiters places in my comment about the three non catchment places.
I have edited my post above to make it clearer.
Parmiters has one non catchment music place, not three. DG
