Great score. Unfortunately, our score was well below what we expected so we will need to review our choice of schools in the consortium.

My daughter got 218 in the academic and 32 in the music.
We're only looking at SCD and not even sure if that's our first choice compared to our local comp which is v good. I feel like the score puts her on the cusp of getting in without being quite sure whether she will or not - which isn't going to help with our decision process!

As per last year's results, 218 should get in SCD. But it highly depends on this year's cohort.

Is there any way of finding out either:

1. The breakdown of your child's score i.e. how they did on Maths and Verbal Reasoning?

2. The actual formula for how scores are calculated?

Yes, thanks. I feel like last year was such an odd year because of the context and the previous year was, I think, the first year they'd switched to GL for both elements, so neither years feel like a great guide for this year. Just trying to work out how to explain all this in as straightforward a way as possible to my daughter when I pick her up from school!

I feel the best way to explain the result to a 10/11yr old is to keep it simple, but factual.

I would start by congratulating the DC on the score and then explain there is no pass/fail mark on 11+ tests. However, there are limited numbers of places available at each school and their chance of securing a place depends on how other candidates did in tests. You do not know this and would know for sure only in March. There is no point thinking about it now, as this is out of your or DC's control.

You will find DC are more resilient than you think they are and they will stop fretting. However, same cannot be said about us parents!

This is the third year of the move to GL and VR from CEM and English VR. DG

My DS got 266 in Academic, and 35 in Music.
He also got 258 in QE Boys' test, but due to the distance, we choose Parmiters as 1st preference school.

My DS got 218 which is very surprising as he scored 251 in QE and according to him SWHerts test was lot easier. Also, he is lot stronger in VR than in English. Anybody else experienced this where there is such a huge difference in scores?
