Thanks for that
As I mentioned this is all new to me! That could be useful info though.
Our case is slightly different as we have been offered transport - it's just that we don't like it!
We are in the hands of our councillor at the moment - just waiting to hear!!!
Thanks again for the info; it could still come in handy if our current channel collapses.

If it's of any interest, there was a discussion in general terms about transport appeals on the Appeals Forum earlier in the year. They are not really independent in the way that school admission appeals are.

Thanks for your posts Etienne and tonbridgemum.
KCC have started to quote various passages from numerous guides to me. So it's nice to be able to quote straight back to them!
From the document Etienne linked to:

Happy to report that Michael Fallon came across as a thoroughly decent chap!Badger wrote:Just to provide an update...
Have managed to arranged a meeting with Michael Fallon MP this Friday to gather his views etc.
I thought as an MP he might just talk politics - but he was down to earth and practical - all the politics seem to be performed by others.
After exactly 4 weeks dealing with KCC it was refreshing to have a normal conversation!
Obviously he isn't able to promise to sort things out but he was sympathetic and appeared to appreciate our situation.
Time will tell...
Badger, Fallon will be charming and say nice things. He is good at that sort of thing. Unfortunately, from my experience with him, when you actually parse what he has said I think that you will find that he has undertaken to do nothing. Were you able to pin him down to do anything concrete; call somebody, write to somebody, do something?
Hi jimmymack,
Yes that is a worry. Each of our local councillors start by making the right noises then things seem to go down hill.
We do have a bit of a plan in place - each new person gets a fair amount of 'polite time' before being brought to task.
I'll update as things move on - but I'm fully aware of our political types can work. It would be nice to be able to report back that he has helped us - but I'll report back either way!
