hi does anybody know if you can get a coach using the freedom pass to wilmington gs from gravesend?

Hi, I saw your post title which made me look as I'm having a few problems getting my DD to Wilmington Girls Grammar from Badgers Mount/Halstead!

Looks like you have two bus services that might be suitable - the 3 and 485?

I'm sure that someone will be along to explain if you are eligible for a Freedom Pass but it all looks pretty promising to me!

Mumof3kent - when you say 'coach' do you mean a privately run coach which transports schoolchildren? Or do you mean a bus which is a public service and is used by anybody?

I'm not aware of any coach service from Gravesend to Wilmington but correct me if I'm wrong.
The public buses go to Gravesend town centre, then Ebbsfleet, Bluewater, Dartford town centre, then out to Wilmington. The bus from my home here in Gravesend ,via town centre to Bluewater takes at least 40 minutes. Add on the rest of the journey and it's a long time for about 10miles!

The Freedom Bus Pass is £50 a year for 11-16 year olds, can only be used on public buses but at any time of day and at weekends. Hence the 'freedom' bit of the name.

Free bus passes (see Badgers previous thread which looks at who is eligible or not for free travel, as it's different across the county) can only be used at certain times between childs home and school.

I'm hoping Roger Gough, Richard Parry, Sarah Hohler (all KCC elected Councillors and Cabinet Members. Roger Gough responsible for Commercial Services which includes Kent School Transport and Sarah Hohler the Education head) and Michael Fallon MP for Sevenoaks will have a breakthrough for Wilmington Grammar school transport problems soon!

NB. I'm planning on launching www.kentschooltransport.ip3.co.uk soon to provide information for others and more... Linking back to www.elevenplusexams.co.uk of course as it's a resource that I wish I had found earlier!
