Hi there :)

I posted here a while back. We've spent the last few months organising the move to Kent which will be going ahead at the end of July (touch wood). We will be based in the Tonbridge area and I'm wondering if anybody has a recommendation for an 11 plus tutor (ds due to sit exam in September 2011)? I have also asked the question on the tutor board but thought it might be an idea to ask here too.

Many thanks,

J

Hi Surreymun 123

Welcome to the forum. I used a tutor who very involved in the education system and can be very candid about your child's potential performance, she did an assessment to assess her potential and the girl who came out was quite different and gleaming. However, my DD was poor at maths and after tutoring she went up four sub-sets in six months[two years learning in one] and was fast tracked into the highest set after coming 2nd in the year 6 test- big gulp for all of us. Her attitude changed overnight and from ''I can't do this' - after much angst she loves it now and breezes so much which I think is down to the one to one dynamic and building confidence as well as working with an expert who knows what paper are relevant to the test.
Good Luck- the primary schools- no matter how excellent, sometimes don't always get it right. DD did pass and got her preferred school-phew! :)

We started at the beginning of year five once week with about half an hour - she wouldn't have taken anymore- bit lazy!

I'll PM the details- she is very forthright! but you know where you stand- which is I wanted.

Kind Regards

Mother night
