They sound like snippets from "May Contain Nuts" by John O' Farrell - anyone going through this process MUST read this book - it's hilarious.

Loving this thread, has made me cry laughing! I can relate to so many of these from a few recent opening evening visits, some are unbelievable!

Took DS to an open morning this morning. I was really impressed with the young man who showed us around - one student to one parent/prospective student. He was polite, informative and very positive about his experiences at the school so far. However, I did feel bad for him getting 'us' to show around! My son knows the school buildings very well, so knows where various departments are, and also knows a number of the staff who were very polite when they saw us and said hello using our names. I had to apologise to the young boy showing us around, as I've had children at this school for 8 years now, OH is a teacher there, and alot of the staff know us very well. At the end, he escorted us back into the hall where I spoke briefly with the Headteacher - and our guide was gone! I didn't get a chance to thank him for his wonderful tour - however, I do remember his name and so will send in a little thank you to the school tomorrow. He happens to be in my OH's tutor group - but he didn't know that - so had no bearing on how nice he was :) My yr 7 son was out meeting people in the parking lot - getting rather muddy in the process I think!

Love the trombone story too - wonder why any parent would really think that humiliating themself and child would be favourable!!! :D :D
