12 plus exam

With regard waiting lists in Kent from year 8 upwards....I am assuming that the 11plus results will have lapsed so you can only go on their waiting list if you have passed their entrance test. Do you think that is right???

I think you would need to ask each individual school. It could work either way - they might put you on a list and then test a bunch of children if a potential place comes up. This would save testing loads of children who might never get place. Or it could be as you say, be tested, pass and then sit on a waiting list.

Either way if you have a pass child the only way of avoiding a long or never-ending wait at a popular school would be to appeal each year. And to appeal you have to apply and be refused a place. So the best thing is to avoid all the advice from the schools on it being not worth trying and give it a go.
