overthinking everything?

My daughter's came home a week ago saying 5 classmates books had gone missing & she thought this was good news for her as the class all assumed this was for the appeal. Yesterday she told me her science book had gone missing around the same time & was told this was for ofsted (who had just visited & the class teacher is claiming this is where the other books had gone). Also I went to parents evening last week & was told by the teacher that the school finds out the day before parents do, but I know this s not true. I then read all sorts of things into everything she said as my daughter took but failed the medway test & the teacher asked how she felt & how close she was. She mentioned that is we had started practising a few monthe earlier she probably would have passed. I am now convinced she knows the kent result & was commenting on this & am now clinging on to the hope that perhaps her science book has gone for ht appeal. Can anyone else cooment on whether ofsted do indeed request books & take them with them after a visit?

Not really sure if I can help, but my gut feeling would be that math's and literacy books would be the ones taken for appeal, that is certainly the case in my DS's class ( as far as I can work out) I can't imagine they would base a head teacher review on one book alone, nerve wracking isn't it I've had butterflies for days now

Thank you for your reply, I think you're probably right. I know how you feel, the worst part for me is that my daughter is so confident about the kent test but 2 of the children's books that went missing are both considered to be gifted in maths & found the paper hard & this is my daughter's weaker subject & she said it was fine/easy. She has also now refused to look around any other schools as only wants to go to the Gravesend Grammar. I am feeling really bad re teacher's comment about preparing earlier as I waited until May when the ht & class teacher gave opinions on whether she should go for the 11+ or not & most of the class started at the beginning of year 5. I really hope her class teacher doesn't know all the results & was talking about the medway test.

Subject co-ordinators often need a selection of books from each class ( 2 bottom, 2 middle, 2 top) when monitoring/moderating the teaching of their subject in school. Often after an observation

Thank you. Guess I was hoping that it was for ht appeal as science is dd's strongest subject. Will just have to keep fingers crossed for Wednesday.

Yes having been through a recent ofsted, they do request to look at students books across the curriculum and levels.

Hello,

I do think that the teachers should now try a new trick as far as this is concerned. My son told me that two books were requested about 2 week ago to do with the Head wanting to show the other teachers what they were doing in class. I am convinced this was something to do with the appeal. Luckily we did Bexley for which he got top scores and "likely"for St Olave's. I am praying for you all as I know the feeling.
