Finding eleven plus tutors

Post by Cass »

I have to say I've been very reluctant to consider having my son tutored for his 11+, but have been panicked into this by all the other parents who seem to start tuition as soon as their child starts primary! He's doing well at school with regard to SATS, but the school does not give any support for 11+ specifically.

I would like to find a tutor for six months or so before the exam to give him a little confidence with the papers (I find it difficult to get him to work with me). I'd be very grateful if anyone could give me advice on how best to find a tutor (West Kent). I guess that word of mouth is the best option, but am not having much luck with this. Does anyone know of any websites/ places to go for advice?

Many thanks.

Hi Cass,

I did not use a tutor, I like you was nervous hearing that all other parents
had employed a tutor.

I think, if you are going to do it, word of mouth is the very best recommendation. Apparentely you need to do this early, as the best tutors are booked up quickley.

I used exam books from WHSMITHS, but I did find the BBC REVISE WISE
website very good.

Good Luck
