We have applied to go on the waiting list for Skinners. My question is: can I find out how far down we are on this list? Also, does anyone know how much lower the cut off score may go from 411? Are we only talking 1 or 2 marks realistically?

Hi,

you can find out by phoning the school after 21st March
when they know how many are definitely accepting and
how many want to go on waiting list.

Last year it went from 414 (not all 414 scoring boys in though) to the boy closest to the school
with 411 getting in before appeals. As there is an extra class
this year it may go down more but it really depends on the
circumstances of the boys already given places and whether they
accept them so it's very hard to predict!

The main thing is if you would like a place for your son hang in there
as you never know what may happen!

Phoned KCC and Skinners today. Neither of them will tell me whereabouts we are on the waiting list, they "are not allowed to". We have to wait until 17th April when the next round of places are handed out.

Another waiting game again

Jaymum, I know of at least 6 boys who have places at Skinners but are appealing or are on waiting lists for other schools . I do appreciate how hard it is though to wait ,especially when you don't yet know where your ds is on the list.

I know of 2 more now-they are definitely giving up places. I will be politely reminding them today to notify Kcc.......

So sorry Jaymum, they must have changed process again since last year!

I don't know if it's any help at all but I have just been through last years reams of paper and my son went from 33rd on waiting list in March to 8th by the time it got to appeals at end of May and this was 4 class intake.

Jaymum - I have had the same response. We are on the WL for TGS and neither the school nor KCC would give anything away. I was simply told we would have to wait until April 17th.
It would really help to have SOME idea where DD might be on the WL...................

Has anyone been told why KCC have changed their policy on this? I can see no reason why they shouldn't say. It just adds a bit more stress at a time when you don't need any more than you already have and also it is about managing your dc's hopes and expectations............
