Hi all,
As I am located in North east (Sunderland). My son's results for Kent will be out soon.If he will pass the tests, then will the admission in grammar schools will be possible or not?Do the schools in Kent consider the test scores or the catchment area? How likely will it be to get the admission in Kent Grammar school if my son's score will be good.Hope so...fingers crossed..Please advice.

There are some super-selective GS in Kent - they only go on scores and have no catchment area. These schools are generally very over-subscribed so high scores would be needed. Have a search at the Kent forum on this site and you will find more info about the schools, scores needed in previous years, etc.
Good luck!

You need to be very careful and read each school's admission criteria as although the superselectives do take on score, the tie-breakers will usually be decided on distance to school - so if, as there has been recently, there is a large number of top scorers they will take the ones nearest the school first then work outwards so there is a very real chance your child could not be allocated a place. Most admissions criteria are available on school websites.

some of the schools have catchment areas (quite tight some around 5 - 7 miles) as stated before you really need to read the school details, try relevant websites or contact KCC, or Medway the local authorities

I struggle to understand why this forum helps here- lets just move to kent AFTER results and our kids are pushed out.
I might get banned for this put why are we helping people in this situation?

Because we are altruistic and want to help people and their children, and if we were in the same situation we would like to think that people would help us. Around the world you will find lots of people help complete strangers on forums, sometimes because they have been in a similar situation to the member and feel that they are giving back something.

Totally agree with you Edmum. I am totally flabbergasted by these posters from Newcastle, Watford, Sunderland, Hounslow etc who are competing with us in Kent for our limited school places and asking advice in how to do it.

I accept that people in places like say, Groombridge, may have a bit of a claim to schools in Tunbridge Wells. I'm not holding living a few miles over the border into East Sussex against them. But Sunderland? Seriously?

Looking on the bright side though, you couldn't possibly learn all the intricacies of the Kent education system in a few weeks. It's taken me a life time!

That gives Kent born and bred a distinct advantage.
