dartford grammar vs judd: diversity

Post by frasiercrane »

Dear Kent test survivors,
Like many others, I am trying to work out the above dilemma. However my concern is a little delicate in that Judd seems to fit my son's personality but he would probably blend in easier at dartford which appears to cater to its more ethnically diverse population. Are there any parents here with similar concerns?

What is with all the PMs? It gives the impression that there is something to hide regarding ethnic diversity at one or both of these schools?

I find it a little sad that anyone feels their child must blend in due to their ethnicity or any other reason, but I suppose I live in a very idealistic bubble of ignorance? Just for the record when the Judd boys come to my son's ("diverse") school to play rugby they seem like very well mannered, affable young men. That of course is just a snapshot, but I think worth a mention due to the amount of pm ing on this thread.

Clearly, for whatever reason, people do not feel comfortable sharing their views on ethnic diversity on a public forum. For the "intrigued" amongst you, when we visited both schools last year there was a stark contrast in this regard between the two schools. DS felt happier at DGS, partly I think because the more diverse population was more akin to his primary school, rugby club etc.

I'm quite happy to share my views!
I can only comment on DGS, it is in my view a very ethnically and socially diverse grammar, and that's one of the reasons we liked it and chose it. Ds is really happy there and has friends from many different cultural and faith backgrounds.
We are London-based so can't comment on the Judd, we never visited it.
