Any ideas about Kent writing test for the 11+?Exam in January.
How are you preparing your child?
Any suggestions ?

Most people don't prepare for this. It is only looked at if your child fails AND their head teacher lodges an appeal. Otherwise it isn't even read. Plus it's just a piece of "creative" writing which your child will probably have practiced in school ad nauseam for SATs.

I've been doing a few non fiction and fiction pieces and then going through them with my pupil to show where it could be improved, focussing on what might make a level 5

It's a creative writing piece. They had to choose from a few subjects (one about an egg seems to have been popular! My son wrote a story about a dragon's egg for that). Guest is absolutely right, so I wouldn't stress over this one to be honest. We did nothing at all to prepare for the writing test- but focused on technique for the others.
