If rumours are to believed and results are low this year how will be know whether we have a chance of getting into super selective school?

As all I have heard is that the test changed and so I am guessing the marks will too, so like you I would love to know how we are to judge what mark will suffice for the super selectives etc.

It will be so hard because we will have nothing to compare to or gauge our results compared to others.i then don't want to risk putting something or find out later we should have gone for it,just want it all to end!

Doesn't the way the scores are standardised mean that even though the test was possibly harder this year than prior years, that the standardised scores won't be significantly different? If that's the case then you can still use prior years as a guide to what would be sufficient for super selectives. I may be wrong on how it works though.

I think one of the ways to guide will be on this forum! If marks are very different people will be concerned and try and get an idea of the range and of the average? All will need to be put in context.

I'm not sure dpla is right- I heard a rumour that although the top score will still be 423, the pass mark will be an aggregate of 320, much lower than last year, and would be v hard to tell where the superselecive cut off will be until we know how many children sit in each mark.

320 that is a drop of 40 marks! Does that mean the marks will be real - ie 100% of a paper is 100% unlike previous years where 75% was full marks.

Essex.
I've read that some Grammar HT's have announced this information at open evenings.

I personally have also heard the same thing from a couple of separate sources, other than on here. I can't say where but they are reliable sources.
