Kent Head Teacher Appeals

Does anyone have any inside knowledge as to whether ;-

1. Head teachers get the resuts of the children they have appealed for before the 15th to advise if their appeal was successful or not?

2. Whether the Head teacher appeal success rate was high or low this year? I understand there was a higher number of appeals than in past years.

3. If a child passed the Maths & English by attaining the required score but failed the reasoning element, Could a HT appeal this? What would they use as evidence? Or would it be down to the parents to appeal in March?

4. If a child did not hit the required score for Maths, Would you still expect their Literacy books & work to be also taken for appeal?

Historically our school hasn't had a high HT appeal success rate. Am clutching at straws I guess as DD's books went missing from class last week when HT appeals were on so more than likely she has not passed.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I don't have any answers but would be interested to know.

Our HT didn't even know that she is supposed to give us the results after 15th so I'm not holding out much hope!

I'm particularly interested in the question about the reasoning paper as that is DDs weak subject and there is a chance she could get maximum scores in Maths and English but fail on Non-verbal and spatial reasoning.

I must admit I have found this whole process so, so stressful. DD's books being taken have nearly tipped me over the edge! Wasn't sure if both being taken means she failed both Maths & Literacy.

Hopefully someone may be able to enlighten us, Otherwise i'll keep hoping for that magic crystal ball to appear :)

It's not too long to wait now and whatever information we have really doesn't help very much.

I would have thought that they would need all books for a HT appeal to put together a rounded case but its also possible that they have taken books for a completely unconnected reason and you are worrying unnecessarily.

As far as i'm aware HT get the appealed results on or v close to 15th...
with regard to who they appeal for: it wouldn't matter which sections they failed on...they can appeal for a child who fell short on all 3 sections and still be successful if they have reason to believe that a child would "suit a Grammar" eg working at a high level 5, year 5 work to back it up etc etc
Also, most schools take ALL books in (even those not being appealed) to reduce speculation... and yes, all their books would be looked at to give them a view of overall general/natural ability.
Roll on next Wed...... i'm trying not to think about it...but the more i try not to think about it, the more i AM thinking about it!!!!
