CGP publish papers that you can buy. CEM do the exams that you sit.

CEM is the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring at Durham University:

CGP is a commercial publisher of educational books - our primary school provided the children their KS2 study notes in year 6.

So would you use both GL Assessment and CGP/CEM books to practice with?

You need to find out who the examining body of the 11+ papers for your chosen schools are. If they are CEM then ensure all the materials you buy are early marked CEM for Year 5. Some publishers also have CEM for Year 4 level. If the materials are not marked CEM then it is quite likely to be GL. When you see these bookshelves stacked with materials it can be mega confusing.

When your DD/DS takes the exam it will either be a CEM or GL test. As they are different you need to make sure you have practised for the correct one.
When my DD1 took the test in B'Ham 4 years ago she came out the exam and said it was a waste of time practising (not that she did much) as the test had been completely different to the papers she had looked at at home - I had bought GL books and the test was CEM Luckily she passed anyway but it would have helped to do the right practise!

The key is in the sample paper on the website. When our local selective moved to CEM last year CEM was clearly written on the footer of each page of the sample paper. DG
