I would appreciate everyone posting raw scores.... not just children that passed but also those that didn't! Unfortunately my son didn't pass ! I am sort of regretting him not being tutored. He is a naturally bright boy, in top set for both literacy and maths and others in his class who are in the lowest sets but were very heavily tutored passed.

I think his age goes against him as he was age 11 when he sat the test, but has always been seen as one of the youngest as was a slow starter. The first few years of school he was in the lowest set, showed no interest in reading etc. It was only when he got to year 4 it was like everything suddenly "clicked"... and he progressed very quickly.
I have requested his raw scores and will post as soon as I receive them. Can we request the raw scores required for a 10 year old to achieve 106 on each paper.. and the same for an 11 year old?
The HT told me yesterday he appealed for my son as he really thinks he would suit a Grammar school.. the appeal was unsuccessful.. but he thinks I should appeal. I know he would not struggle at a Grammar at all.. although quite a few of his friends might... !

I still don't understand how they calculate the score
If you use the Search function (look just above the date in the top right-hand corner, you will find explanation and discussion of how standardisation works, or you could go to the GL website.

In the usual course of events, a score of 115 means that you did better than c.84% of candidates in that exam, compared with those of the same age. Normally, younger candidates score slightly less on average, hence you may see that a child a few months older than yours will have the same standardised score for a higher raw score and vice versa. You can think of the standardised scores sort of as points on a number line. Just don't try turning them into a percentage, because that's not how they work :) .

Sorry for the stupid question, I'm still getting my head round everything. Does the above mean there are 25 questions for English, 25 for maths and 80 for reasoning? And that it is one mark per question? Also trying to get an idea of what percentage of questions need to be answered correctly for a basic pass in each section.
