Hi

My son scored the below mark with TOTAL MARK of 329 in Kent PSSE Test.

Maths : 104 out of 141
English : 109 out of 141
Reasoning : 116 out of 141

He scored 104 in Maths and the passing mark is 106, he was not offered a passed mark for the entire test.
How do we go through option of appealing through Headteacher Assessment Panel where his Primary school head teacher can appeal for it.

thanks Mum

My understanding is that the Head Teacher appeal has already happened - I would ask the Head in the morning why he/she didn’t appeal already. You will then need to appeal in March - out the grammars down on the CAF - you will get rejected but you cannot appeal for a school that isn’t in the CAF. Good luck - there is an appeal forum on here too that will have more detail.

I think that the head teacher reviews take place before the results come out

Quote:
Kent is unusual in operating a system of “Head teacher reviews”. A review can be submitted if a child has not qualified on score but was close to the pass mark or the Head teacher believes that the result was not representative of the child’s ability. The reviews take place before parents receive their child’s results.

The Head will submit a short report and samples of work which are then reviewed by a panel consisting of Primary and Secondary Head teachers or Deputy Heads. The review may result in the 11+ score being overturned and the child being deemed qualified.

If your child does not qualify, the Head does not seek a review or if the review is unsuccessful you still have the right to have your child’s case heard by an Independent Appeals Panel.

You can still appeal for a place at GS, but this can only happen if you are refused a place on allocation day at the beginning of March.

Have a look at the FAQ here : https://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/appeals/general

They may have done so and been rejected. The scores look borderline for all sections (each question = 4%) and might be more likely to have won an appeal if other subjects were much stronger.

Hi there
The head teacher appeals happen around the 28/29 Sept. they are done if your head teacher thinks your child should have passed as they have the ability.
They take place without parents or children knowing.. And before the parents are given the results.
My daughter did not pass the maths and we appealed for a place in March our appeal was heard in June ... And we were lucky enough to be successful.

It is a stressful process... I'm happy to help anyone by answering questions just PM if that's allowed.
I would like to add that each appeal we went to (3) knew what We had put first on CAF form.

Good luck and do contact me if you have any queries.

Thanks we will probably do that.

I live out of borough for Kent;

The Schools we where considering are: Dartford Grammar School and also Wilmington Grammar School.

What are the chances of getting in with in with our results

thank you

Wilmington gives preference to local boys I think - it is difficult to get an OOC place in a Kent school. Dartford GS was 387 cut off last year.

DD got 332 but was assessed suitable for high school her scores are
Maths 102
English 117
Reasoning 113
Would really like to hear about appeals experiences based on similar scores
Also just wondering how the Headteacher appeal works as I would have hoped our headteacher would have done one for DD but based on outcome she didn’t :?
TIA
