Some useful information...

...from those asking for help.

What is your postcode? How much daily travelling do you expect your child to do? Or, can you realistically move into area in time? What score did your child achieve? If below a pass or the marks required for a particular school, why do you think you might have grounds for appeal? Have you visited any schools and what did you think of them? What was the admission criteria you read on the school website? If your child does not meet those criteria, how might you expect to get a place anyway? Or are you just hoping for a grammar, any grammar will do?

A thank you to those who help you would be nice as well.

Very good points and I understand where you are coming from. I think it can be a bit daunting having to understand all the information given in the various admissions documentation. That's probably why people ask for help in order to understand a bit better. I've been through this already with an older child a few years ago and luckily secured a place. This time round it's not so easy and options are limited for my younger child so all the information provided on this forum has been extremely valuable. I try not to ask too many questions as it can be a little intimidating at times.

To be honest, how many people really 'have' to go through large numbers of school admissions policies? Surely most people will just be looking at (possibly) their closest grammar school and non selective schools. A maximum of half a dozen? Reading posts on here 'normalises' those who appear to have been able to find the 'enter my DC for the exam' page on the website, with the neighbouring 'schools in our authority, complete with admissions criteria' page completely failing to capture their attention, times multiple admissions authorities, almost certainly give a very skewed they of things.

And no doubt it's a forum thing, but I seriously don't get this whole, ten days to CAF submission deadline and we haven't visited any school's at all, because there's no point in looking at them if you don't know whether s/he has passed yet, vibe  . So you now manage to go and see three in the two days between half term and October 31st - and both you and your DC absolutely hate them all?
