Re: Dartford Grammar School
Thank you very much for your very helpful replies!
So if I understood correctly, one can excel in two languages, one of them is Oriental. However, to study Latin, you have to give up an idea of studying the the Modern European language until at least the 6th form, when you can take it Ad Initio.
With Maths the picture is less of a clear cut. But overall, it is not the specialism, as there is no equivalent excellence program for Maths.
Am i right?
Many thanks again!

RoboR says that both the oriental and other language can be accelerated. I've only heard about the oriental languages as the school policy was not to take GCSEs early. This is new. Anyway, your son could choose Latin and then choose a European language Ab Initio for the IB. I think they teach other languages for the IB, for example, Russian.Goodstudent& wrote:Thank you very much for your very helpful replies!

If your son is an able mathematician he can do all the extension work and challenges set during class, then he can enter the competitions, etc. You have to realise that the level of Maths is very high, so the pace is quite fast.
