Hi All,
My DS has cleared the first round of St Olaves and likes the school. We are based in Croydon and cannot relocate due to other commitments/ children etc. Are there any parents whose DS travel from croydon/new Addington. Would like to know how is the commute, how long does it take during the morning peak hours. I have also heard there is a private coach shared between St Olaves and Newstead Wood, will appreciate if parents can shed some light on the service as well as travel time etc. Concerned about DS might spend long hours travelling as I totally understand the impact on school life, studies etc given that moving closer is not an option for us.
Thank you

Think this should be on the Bromley and Bexley page. But what part of Croydon do you live in, Shirley for example is very close to Orpington

Sorry just seen you are New Addington. Might be worth trying the TFL site, but relatively the locations are close so sure there should be a bus that goes between the two locations

The 353 goes from New Addington Village into Orpington, but a bit of a walk from the stop to the schools. Looks like an hour end to end

There is a Lewis coaches bus that goes from Croydon to St Olaves but I don't know from which part/timings etc. Think about after school clubs etc though. If your son does rugby, there are late trainings once or twice a week plus matches etc. Worth looking into the public transport options.

Thank you everyone for your response. It has really been helpful in deciding. After looking at all the travel options you have mentioned above, it will be about 60-90 mins journey door to door during school hour as we are more towards Purley. Considering that DS will have to commute for min 5 years + it will mean he will might not be able to do after school clubs, we decided to put the school below other schools on CAF. Hopefully it is the right decision :?:
