Is he taking the test this September? You've left it quite late if so! Mods don't seem to like personal recommendations on here, so you may not get much help - perhaps start by asking other mums you meet with children in the same year group, or looking around online. There are some good local websites that list potential tutors together with their areas of expertise and prices, or you have the option of a couple of the larger tuition centres. Good luck :)

I'm not sure spelling can be taught quite as easily as a mathematical formula. Assuming you are talking about the Kent Test, spelling is one small section of a much bigger paper. It can be quite hit and miss at that age, even for those who are generally good at English. In my opinion, lists of words have limited value.

We ended up looking at that section as a whole unit, rather than individual questions. What words were they trying to trip you up on? There will always be one or two lines with no spelling mistakes; that can be harder to spot. We increased reading to half an hour a day most days, while sat with mum reading her book on the sofa. We also bought "First News" which is quite readable for most children.

I believe comprehension skills are the most important to master for those doing the Kent Test who have an inclination towards maths, or whose parents have English as a second language.

There is nothing to stop you sending the OP a personal recommendation by pm. You just can't advertise someone's services on the open forum :) .
