You might get more answers in the Independent School section (assuming you mean Tonbridge School). I know a boy going there in 2019 & I believe he sat common entrance, but I don't know about entry into year 7 if that is what you mean.

If it is the public school that OP is considering then Tonbridge School is Yr9 entry only and is via the common entrance system (or whatever it is called these days!).
There is a lot of information readily available on the schools website about entry in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
