DS was 10 years and 5 months

English - 23 raw - 131
Maths - 17 raw - 122
Reasoning -59 raw - 127

Total 380

Yet previous posters DD is only a month younger, got only one more English question right and that made a 6 point standardised difference?!
Yes I find it fascinating too. Another posters DD got exactly the same raw score as my DD in maths but is 4 months younger and only got 1 point extra in the standardised score. They didn't quite get the difficulty consistent between the maths and English papers did they?

Confused, my DS 10yrs same like yours.
English 23/132 -2point/-9point 5point/question?
Maths 21/134 same/same compare with others 3point/question?
Reasoning 69/137 +7point/+7point 1point/question?

Total 403 :)

I think that is often the case. My DS (Current Y10) was the first year to take the 'new' test and the maths was WAY harder than the English.

Out of interest, I looked at the raw scores for the three of my children who have taken the test last night, and they are all very similar actually but the standardised scores varied wildly.

DD aged 10 and 3 months scored 356 standardised, 122 Reasoning, 118 Maths and 116 English. Raw scores were 52, 15 and 19 respectively. So English must have been easier than normal, Maths harder, and Reasoning harder than normal? We live close to Wilmington GSG, pass only needed. Right kind of school for her, not over-pressured.

My daughter didn’t pass so we have the decision on whether or not to appeal.

These were her scores, I’m wondering how many more maths questions she would have need to get correct to have passed.

10y 4m

English 108 (raw 16)

Maths 99 (raw 8 )

Reasoning 119 (raw 49)

Aggregate score 326

DS, 10y7mo

English 18/113
Maths 16/119
Reasoning 63/131

Total 363

I had emailed to get raw scores before I saw the standardised scores, and was impressed by my son's English raw score, only be to be surprised that this translated to a lower-than-expected standardised score. The Maths and Reasoning raw and standardised scores were within the range of my expectations, if a bit at the lower end for Maths.

I have had my dd’s test paper marked and received his scores back this morning.

English 13/100
Maths 11/106
NVR48/117

Agg 323

My question is if maths and English are out of 25 why did he score less overall on English when he got more correct? I am slightly confused but have hit a wall with Kent council as they say they cannot give any more information aside from his scores.

Because it doesn't just depend on how many questions were answered correctly, it depends on the standard deviation as well - which involves the spread of scores as well and can be quite different for different papers / divisions for score calculation purposes (where e.g. you have a 'Maths' paper and an 'English' paper, but each contain 'reasoning' questions, which are split off to be treated as a 'third paper').
