So I was waiting until today to do the application form.

We have a preferred grammar and a 2nd choice grammar but for our area, that's pretty much it. We don't fit in the catchment for anything else (and don't really want to send him further away - even if we could).

Therefore our third choice, even though he passed the test is a high school. It's very likely he'd be placed there if he doesn't get into the other two (and I think it is very unlikely that he won't get one of the two - looking at previous catchments - fingers crossed...). Do I put the high school down as the third choice? Or do I put another random grammar or two, that we won't stand a chance of getting into instead?

I'd need to figure out what they'd be as the closest two are the only ones we considered.

Which would you prefer given the choice? The high school (with an easy journey?) or a GS a fair distance away that it sounds like you haven’t even seen (and possibly don’t have much chance of getting?).

There’s no reason why you couldn’t put the high school as your third choice and the GSs after that if you felt the need.

The important thing is to put down the schools in your genuine order of preference.
