Judd Inner Area - Is rented house accepted as proof?

Post by Najas »

Dear All,

This thread is to request your advice and seek knowledge of any precedence. One of the boys whom we know scored 385 in Kent Grammar School Exams. His parents does not live in the inner area and now in the process of moving into Tonbridge. They have given Judd as first preference. If the mortgage does not come through before cut off date for submission of proof of residence, his parents are planning to move on rent to the inner area. Do you know if Kent County council will accept this as proof of residence for consideration under inner circle criteria.

I Googled it as I'm not from your area and your friends need to read the secondary admissions booklet for Kent, specifically pages 13 & 14. It looks as though a rental agreement is acceptable but it must be for 12 months.

A mortgage is not proof of residence, an address is. It can take many weeks (or months) after approval of a mortgage to exchange contracts. I know one family who did the move from Kent Borders into Kent with no questions asked, they applied via the Kent SCAF as they rented a property and had registered with the council for Council Tax straightaway, by the end of October. They had their property on the market, emptied of furniture and priced well below market rate to get it under offer and exchanged (but not completed) by change of address date. This proved enough to Kent they had cut ties with their old address.
