Hi all, my son announced an hour ago that he really doesn't feel well. Could be nerves but could be a bug. Does anyone know what happens if they are ill on the day please? Thank you

Hi Lucky13 Fingers crossed, your son will be fine but if a child is unwell on test day, it would be worth getting a GP review/note to confirm illness and I believe there is a special circumstances form to fill in and it is possible an alternative date would be offered (although this info might be out of date so best to double check w KCC). The other option is to check with your school to see if there is an anecdotal precedent for this situation and what they advise. Good luck!

As I always point out, GPs do not offer "notes" for children who are unwell for schools etc. Schools should trust parents who say their children are unwell. It's also a waste of an appointment for a child who has a cold or a tummy bug. Schools should not request you to get a doctor's note (plenty of guidance about this online). Any note that the GP does provide would be private and therefore at a charge.

And to confirm, if you take your child to sit the test, you will be asked to sign a fit and well sheet - this indicates that you believe your child is fit and well to sit the test and, therefore, you cannot say he was ill at any subsequent appeal (unless something happens during the test).
If you do not think your child is not well, do not take him to the test and contact teh LEA at the earliest opportunity to tell them. Your child might be allowed to sit it at a later date.
