Hello,

Does anybody know if we find out beforehand what the pass mark for the Kent test is for 2019? I.e 2018 was 107/107/107 =total 321. Or is it when we receive results that we know what the pass mark actually is?

Many thanks

No information is released for the 17th im afraid. The main website will have the info and, in previous years, the actual login screen where you view your dc's score

I have been told by a friend that their daughter is subject to a HT appeal and that the minimum was 111 this year on each paper.......

Thanks for posting - just be wary that messages from friends can get scrambled and we wouldn't like anyone to think that this is official

Are parents informed if their child is subject to a head teachers review? I thought they didn’t know?

I would.treat all such "information" with a pinch of salt until results day.

I’m struggling to see how a large change in pass marks works with standardised scores.

Surely the point of the standardisation is so the pass mark stays roughly the same each year, even when the raw scores/ difficulty of papers/ ability of cohort changes?

Kent standardise for age. There are many and various threads on how it works including links to.kcc which may help.

From Kent.gov.uk’s Kent Test Page:

Standardisation is a statistical process which compares your child's performance with the average performance of other children in each test. A slight adjustment is made to take account of each child's age so that the youngest are not at a disadvantage.

The raw scores needed to gain a pass mark have varied quite a bit over the years since 2014, so I’m pretty sure that they standardise as described above?
