With a year to go, and with no prior tutoring, The Tutors Verbal Reasoning Beginner CD would be recommended alongside the free methods & technique course available in the free downloads section of the site.
Then look at The Tutors new short e-papers, starting with level one and progress through level 2.
Once level 2 is complete obtain The Tutors Verbal Reasoning CD1 that is a syllabus for the 21 question types found in NFER multiple-choice tests.
Work through the CD alongside Level 3 short papers.
When you feel it is appropriate, purchase NFER preparation papers, then The Tutors full e-papers and work through them.
The Tutors Verbal Reasoning CD2 has 100 questions per paper that contain all 21 question types. Although some areas of Kent do not use all 21 question types, most people recommend covering them all.
If the tests includes a seperate maths paper then The Tutors Maths CD1 is a syllabus covering all the question types in NFER practice papers and The Tutors Maths CD2 contains 20 papers with 50 questions in a format similar to the NFER tests. The CDs contain 900 bonus questions written to improve mental arithmetic and algebra skills.
If you are looking to improve vocabulary then The Tutors Vocabulary Builder CD contains a range of graded questions that, with some imagination from the tutor, can help.
Downloading is a cheaper way of obtaining the question sets rather than purchasing CDs and printed papers.
Finally, use this forum, read messages from other contributors and send your own messages. Myself, and author contributors give free advice on a daily basis.
Although your message was specific to The Tutors products, there are other authors to consider, such as IPS, Susan Daughtery Bright Sparks, etc if you exhaust The Tutors question database.
