time problems

Has anyone got any tips for these - eg 10.35 to 1.05.

Have tried breaking it down so that we look at the odd mins to the next hour, then counting the hours, then adding on the last batch of odd minutes before combining the lot.

DD just can't get these and its holding her back with time word problems and bus/train timetables.

She's fine with all versions of telling the time and the 24 hour clock.

Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

I find it easier to think of it as a clock face.

There are some quite good exercises online, give me a bit of time and I'll try and find some links.

Hi, I used to work in TV and had to give quick and accurate timings on my stopwatch. I am generally rubbish at maths and it took me a long time to tell the time when I was little,so this was a challenge for me. A friend of mine from the News taught me a good trick. Divide the face of the watch in half with an invisible line and you can tell what 30 minutes on from any time very easily, just follow the line over to the other side of the clock.

This method can be used to extrapolate adding or subtracting any amount of time.. Have a go, it's quite good fun!!!
