Rounding decimals.

Tonight's maths question. Can you please round the below number to 2 decimal places. A number of replies would be appreciated.

Thankyou Hermanmunster. I am up against a year 5 top set maths teacher, not to mention a wife, who say you round from the right, and not from the left, and which would give a value of 3.26.

That's what I would have said, but then thought is it a trick question and is the answer 3.26.

that's the trouble with Herman's method - I don;t round from any direction so the remaining 0.487 is less than half hence the rounded sum would be 3.25.
ho hum.

I would have said 3.26 too.

I was always taught to round from the right iteratively
The Excel ROUND function however thinks it's 3.25 but I think it's wrong.
=ROUND(3.25487,2)

Rounded to 2 dp is 3.25
Imagine a number line... 4 is less than 5.. clearly rounds down.
Moving from the right, accumulating 'rounding' is clearly bogus.
