Hi

I just wanted to find out how much time is spent on maths per week, my ds is in year 4, so starting to think about sitting down with him to go through maths.

Also would you recommend daily maths session or just on weekend?

My DD is in year 4 as well - my DS will take his 11+ next weekend.

The most important thing to do with a child in year 4 is to ensure that they know their times table inside out, adding 2 digit numbers, square number and cube numbers

The best course of action is to do 10 to 15 minutes every day

I wish that I had done this with DS, we will be starting with DD next week

Hi thank you for your reply

He knows his timetables well, haven't worked on square numbers or cube numbers.

Maths is his stronger subject so have been focusing on English but don't want maths to suffer as a result.

Will start with 10 to 15 a day, thank you for the suggestion

I was think mainly about Maths as you posted in this section, however, in terms of English, and VR - encourage loads of reading. Alphabet games are very useful (boggle is great) - We will be using Bond VR papers for 8 to 9 years to get familiarity with type of questions. Start early to reduce stress next year
