And I'm not showing the kids until I have improved my speed....

Have to say that my tables are still a knee jerk instant reaction far too many years later.
DS's are the same - I was drilled as a child, they had some new fangled method  but the result is the same.

Mind you we went to an open evening and there was some "old" maths equipment on the side - DS was absolutely fascinated by a log book and very impressed that I could still use one (so was I for that matter   ).

Oooh now, you are talking my language! Rather embarassingly I can't operate DS's new scientific calculator, even to do addition!

That's site is far to addictive Yoyo, not what I needed to increase my productivity!!

And I have to say that my slow time on that spaceship game is down to my finger eye coordination rather than my tables recall. I don't know why I felt the need to clarify that

I think a time of less than 5 mins should be aimed for. It is just memory my DD who has the memory of an elephant but is average at maths does them in 3 mins.

Our Y5 teacher sets a 2min target for a 10x10 grid out of order.
Each year between 5-10 kids will hit that target with another 5 or so just out of it on the 3min margin.
