Mrs Davison buys a map of Ireland. Its drawn to the scale of 1: 500,000.
What distance in kilometres, is represented by 1 cm on the map?

Which means 500,000 cm -> km => 5 Km?? But the answer was 500 km. Not sure how. Can someone clarify please?

Thanks in advance..

There are errors in many things.

In this case, clearly a map of Ireland, which is 304km wide at its widest point, where 1cm was 500km would be completely useless, through being tiny.

As you say 500,000 cm = 5km.

500km is wrong.
