I need help with this one .
I have a big bar if chocolate .
I eat 1/4 on Saturday and 1/2 of what's left on Sunday .
I take the rest of it to School on Monday and give 1/3 to my friend.
I eat the rest myself on Monday.
What Fraction of the big bar did I eat on Monday?

Answer is 1/4

I drew a picture of the bar and shaded areas as they were 'eaten'.
Visually an easy question (assuming I got it right  )

Or with numbers:
On Sunday I ate half of 3/4. Half of 3/4 will remain. This is 3/8.

On Monday I gave 1/8 to my friend ( this is one third of 3/8). I ate the remaining chocolate which is 2/8. This simplifies to 1/4.

Nice fraction practice question. Where is it from?

I eat 1/4 on Sat --> portion left on Sat is 3/4
Then I eat 1/2 on Sun of what's left --> i.e. 1/2 of 3/4 =3/8 left on Sunday
Then I gave 1/3 to my friend --> 2/3 of left on Sun i.e. 3/8

2/3 x 3/8
1/4

But you can get the same answer quickly (saving you couple of seconds I guess :) ) if you focus on what's left after eating on Sunday and do times portion eaten.

3/4 x 1/2 x 2/3 = 1/4 answer

[Cancel 2 in numerator with 2 in denominator and similarly 3 with 3]
