26 (ii) The area of square C = area of square A + area of square B

(iii) can't read the numbers, sorry


30 (a) 1700 + 908 = 2608 cm2 correct

(b) 625 - 227 = 398 cm2 correct

(c) 34^2 - 908 = 1156 - 908 = 248 cm2 correct

Yes the numbers are very tiny to read Nos 26 .

What did you think they were?

You need to square the two numbers - add them - then take the square root to get what you want.

Well we have the printed copy and still very tiny but we think

for nos


i) the top square now is 13
smaller square is 5

bottom square is 12








iii)

top square is what we are looking for

small square is 6cm

bottom square is 8cm

if that would help

OK then
we square 6 to get area 36
we square 8 to get area 64

add them 36 + 64 = 100

So area of C is 100 cm2 and its side length will be 10 cm.

Questions
1. Freddie writes down all whole numbers between 1 and 1000 inclusive.


1, 2, 3, 4, ..., 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, ...., 99, 100, 101, 102, 103, ..., 999,1000.


How many individual digits does he write down?

Answer: 2888

He writes down:
nine 1 digit numbers
(99-9) two digit numbers
(999-99)three digit numbers
The number 1000.
