I started with the smallest in each of the 4 lessons ie 1 in each.

So 4 before these lessons - this was two thirds of what I had so I had 6.

I ate 2 before that so the minimum I had was 8.

Hi all

Please help with this Maths question for dd
Question
Skimmed Milk contains 0.1% fat and pasteurised whole milk contains 4% fat.
When 6 litres of skimmed milk are mixed with n litres of pasteurised whole milk, the fat content of the resulting mixture is 1.66%. what is n?

Question
A very large jug of x litres of orange squash is 10% concentrate(the rest water). When 5 litres of concentrate is added the jug is now is now 12% concentrate


a) form an equation in terms of x(by considering the amount of concentrate we have)
b) hence determine x

this is what ive done but not sure

x=10%
x+5 = 12%

These should not be 11+ questions - where have they come from?

11 plus can use try and improvement method.

Firstly, try mixing 1l of each milk, the new % will be the average (0.1+4):2=2.05
Put 1l of 0.1% in we have new %= 4.2/3=1.4%
Put 1l of 4% in, new % = 8.2/4=2.05%
Put 1l of 0.1%, new %= 8.3/5=1.66%

Therefore 2l of 4% mix with 3l of 0.1% we have new % of 1.66
And we need 4l of 4% for 6l of 0.1%.
